Behind the Dark and Unreasonable Assumptions (Sa Likod ng mga Masama at Baluktot na Hinuha)

The Modern JR

First and foremost, if you’re a Filipino who doesn’t love his own country, doesn’t turn his head up high when talking about his mother land and who doesn’t speak for yourself as a Filipino, you may go now and hide beneath the mask prepared by the race whom you think is far more better than your own. You’re not a great loss to our country for you smell worse than a rotten fish, as Dr. Jose Rizal quoted. Secondly, based on the pen name I used, I’m not a full-pledged patriot but I am nationalistic kind of person. And lastly, I clear myself from the insult made by whosoever psycho-foreigner who can’t be with a Filipino that I am not the type of guy who’s at the coming of age who likes to masturbate in front of a pornographic material , noted as “hentai” by perverts, which is made by the Japanese.

Who are the good ones? Who are the bad ones? Who’s perfect? Whose life is a waste? If Filipino nation and other races will compete in terms of virtue, morality, ethics, discipline, religion and values, Filipinos are definitely not the ones who’ll bite the dust. It is not of Filipino nature to be aggressive when it comes to sex or sexuality. As defined by true blooded Filipinos, sexuality is the whole self-being of a human which includes manners, actions, social life, hobbies and all other aspects of life which also includes love. The other meaning of sex never came from the Filipino nation. If you’ll take a closer look, it is the other nations who started the shallow meaning of sex who also thinks only the self-pleasure they’ll receive from it. Now tell me, who are the good ones? Who are the bad ones?

Sex, sex, sex. Filipinos really aren’t open with the bad and mediocre meaning of sex. “Self-pleasure” is the word I can formulate from that given meaning. I can receive hearsays coming from my fellow countrymen, which really gave a pinch in my heart, that Olongapo and other places in the Philippines where American soldiers are home-based are also the places where many Maria Claras are ready to surrender their dignity and purity just to have a better future. Is it their fault that their being grasped by the neck by the low-powered economy which is manipulated by the foreign nations where people, who they look forward as the key to a brighter future, came from? Poverty caused by other nations? Hmmm… Now tell me, who are the good ones? Who are the bad ones?

The sacredness of a woman’s virginity is a much protected thing by the Filipino nation. Filipinas don’t need Chastity belt just to protect their virginity. Filipinos have a high level of discipline when it comes to the act which only couples blessed by the church and who’s only with the wife whom the husband loves do. Confidently, with all my might that I can tell the world that it is not from the Filipino nation where sex, defined as an act of only to satisfy self-pleasure cause by the demon called undisciplined, came. I will no longer drop the name of the nation where it started it all because I’m a Filipino who has a calm soul who doesn’t want any commotion. The only fault of Filipinos is that they easily give in to the concepts and beliefs which came from a foreign place.

For 333 years, Filipinos were controlled, colonized, abused and forcefully changed by the Spaniards. Take note, THREE HUNDRED THIRTY THREE YEARS! I wonder how many reincarnations of me came when Philippines is still under the steel hands of Spain. Do you think there are still aboriginal traditions left after all those years? But because of talent, excellence and remarkable ability of Filipinos, they managed to preserve some of the traditions. Theses traditions can be proved by evidences like the native tribes of the Philippines like Aeta, Igorot, T’boli and many various tribes which you won’t believe that was preserved after 333 years of colonization.

For over a long period of time when Filipinos experienced tragedy, Spaniards insisted to change the culture that was made by the Filipinos. Before they came, FILIPINOS ALREADY HAVE THEIR OWN CONCEPT OF CULTURE. That’s why no one can address Filipinos as FILIPINOS ONLY but FILIPINO (you know what I mean?)! System of writing is also created before Spaniards came which is called “Alibata”- each symbol denotes a combination of a consonant and vowel (i.e. “ba”, “be”, “bi”…). But then, many alternations were made to the native culture of the Filipinos by the Spaniards. One good example is the mandate of Governor General Narciso Claveria which states that Filipino surnames should be converted into Spanish; an example of a Filipino surname is Dimakulangan. Concept of culture? We do have! It is just because of other nation’s persistence to change it that’s why it stopped from mounting.

Sometimes, I wonder, if other nations have not gotten into our country, is it possible that Filipinos might have a better reputation now? I think, the answer to my question is YES. We are like small naïve children who are not exposed to the worldly sins of the world before other nations came. Maybe, no Filipino has gone wrong. Maybe, we Filipinos are misjudged or maybe other nations don’t have a cleaner mind to think of us as a trash. It is just either of the two. I am thinking if we were not exposed to bad foreign concepts, maybe our politics will be cleaner, more sufficient. The thing about us is that we easily give in to things which other nations show as good and excellent, we don’t mind, we just follow like a dog. Yes, Philippines can never be compared to other Asian countries like Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and other superior countries. It is true, that “Third World Country” is what they call our nation. But, I know in my heart that Filipinos can surpass that rank and do better. Filipinos are NOT DUMB, THEY ARE NOT NAÏVE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT, THEY ARE NOT MORONS! We are just MANIPULATED, CONTROLLED! CONTROLLED by the concepts that didn’t come or even ran into the minds of true Filipinos. Now tell me, who are the good ones? Who are the bad ones?

Jimmu Tenno of Japan, George Washington of United States, Simon Bolivar of Venezuela, Jose de San Martin of Argentina, Bernard O’ Higgins of Chile, Napoleon I and Joan of Arc of France, Abdul Haris Nasution of Indonesia and Arminius or Hermann of Germany: all of them share one characteristic. All of them are national heroes of their countries. And also, all of them are part of their military. His Excellency Dr. Jose Rizal, on the other hand, is the national hero of the Philippines. There’s a huge and significant difference between him and the former heroes. He has a CALM BEING. It shows that Filipinos are NOT WAR FREAKS! Don’t get me wrong with this because I don’t mean to insult other nations who are doing the other way frankly, I can say that it’s a mere LUCK which made them win their battles. If you’re going to depend only on your physical strength, your chance of winning is already cut by half. But, compared to Rizal, if you use your wisdom, discipline, hard work, temperance and high-rise love for the country, you’ll have the bigger chance of winning.

This is only one of my writings for the clarifications about the Filipino nation. I express my gratitude to a book I have read which is written by an author whom I admire; who is also my idol in laying arguments about the nation we both grew up to. Even though his surname sounds Chinese, I thank him for those writings which really exposed the misdeeds of Filipinos, frank insulting opinions coming from other nations thrown to us, and for having the style suited for the youth which really did work! What I only wish for is that the Filipino youth should be moved by his books, do something for our country, love our own nation and to be a productive, not defective, citizen of our country.

And I hope, to those who are able to read this, you may find the truth about all the misconceptions about Filipinos. This is only the start of my writings, I’ll do more. There are still more people who really don’t know the real meaning of being a Filipino and who turns out the moron out of themselves by insulting us. The Filipino nation is NOT LOW, NOT A COMFORT-PROVIDER, SHOULDN’T BE BELITTLED, SHOULDN’T BE INSULTED because only a FOOL and MORON will try to insult the nation which the whole world doesn’t know yet. Filipinos are like raw diamonds, its value and luster will show only when nurtured enough and correctly.
